The Michelin-starred restaurant Contraste, located at Via Meda 2 in Milan, has undertaken a bold renovation with the aim of creating an environment that not only reflects the culinary excellence of chef Matias Perdomo, sous chef Simon Press, and maître d’ Thomas Piras, but also immerses diners in a unique sensory experience. Founded in 2015, the restaurant needed a renewal that would enhance the historic and artistic heritage of the building while meeting modern operational needs.

CONTRASTE MICHELIN – STARRED RESTAURANT MILAN
Debonademeo Studio’s project aimed to transform the restaurant into a versatile and engaging environment, divided into four dining rooms and a relaxation area, thanks to the use of full-height velvet curtains in four vibrant colors.
The project aimed to ensure maximum psycho-physical and sensory comfort for diners. Silent tables, sound-absorbing curtains and floors, and a careful study of lighting created the perfect atmosphere both day and night.
To achieve this, we collaborated with specialized craftsmen in restoration, bringing to light the original elements of the building, such as stuccoes, frescoes, and the large wooden fireplace. Each room was meticulously detailed, inspired by the four natural elements – Air, Earth, Water, and Fire – each associated with a specific color.
The custom-designed wallpapers and floating metal arch lamps with a champagne finish added a touch of elegance and originality, while the fluorescent yellow service trolleys added a dynamic and unique character to the space.
The name “Contraste” not only represents the renowned culinary offering but also an immersive journey through contrasting sensations: alternation of colors, surfaces, and furnishings.
